Vishnu Manchu’s ambitious mythological drama Kannappa has taken a thunderous start at the Indian box office, grossing an impressive ₹11 crore on its opening day. This is a record-breaking figure for a solo Vishnu Manchu release, marking one of the biggest starts for the actor in his career.
Kannappa Opening Day Collection
According to trade sources, Kannappa raked in ₹11 crore gross on its first day across India. The film performed strongest in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with Telugu audiences turning up in big numbers, especially in B and C centers. While Vishnu Manchu’s loyal fan base has been instrumental in driving footfalls, trade analysts believe the film’s mythological subject has significantly expanded its appeal beyond the actor’s core audience.
Impact of Prabhas’ Cameo
Another major contributor to the film’s stellar opening is the special appearance of pan-India superstar Prabhas. Though Prabhas has a limited role, his name alone has generated considerable buzz, boosting advance bookings and single-screen occupancy in the Telugu-speaking regions. Prabhas’ presence in Kannappa has undeniably helped amplify the hype.

About Kannappa’s Story and Release
Kannappa is based on the legendary devotee of Lord Shiva, Kannappa Nayanar, and presents a high-budget retelling of his life and devotion. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced under Vishnu Manchu’s 24 Frames Factory, the film stars Preity Mukundhan alongside Vishnu in the lead. The movie released on 26 June 2025 in Telugu and dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi.
The film’s first-day figures are particularly impressive considering the current box office scenario, where even mid-budget star vehicles have struggled to post double-digit openings.
