Ramayana Already Earns ₹1,000 Crore for Prime Focus Just With Its First Look! Ranbir Kapoor Invests ₹20 Cr

Prime Focus Ltd, the Namit Malhotra-led studio behind the upcoming epic Ramayana, saw its stock market fortunes skyrocket following the release of the film’s first glimpse on July 3. Apprehension around the multi-crore adaptation had already buoyed investor sentiment, but the first glimpse triggered a remarkable surge in the company’s market valuation.

Ramayana first look fuels ₹1,000 crore valuation jump

Between June 25 and July 1, Prime Focus stock climbed around 30%, rising from ₹113.47 to ₹149.69 after the board approved a preferential allotment of 462.7 million equity shares. With the first look’s release, the stock spiked to a high of ₹176 on July 3, catapulting the market cap from ₹4,638 crore to ₹5,641 crore, an increase of over ₹1,000 crore in just two days. By the close, it cooled slightly to ₹169, valuing the company at approximately ₹5,200 crore.

Ranbir Kapoor buys stake in Prime Focus

Adding further enthusiasm, lead actor Ranbir Kapoor is set to invest in Prime Focus. According to Business Standard, he’ll receive 1.25 million shares of the company. Though the per‑share allotment price remains undisclosed, the current market value pegs his investment at roughly ₹20 crore.

Ramayana: A massive cinematic undertaking

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being developed as a two‑part mega‑production, poised to be among the most expensive Indian films ever. The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The film also features a groundbreaking musical collaboration between A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, with the latter making his Bollywood debut.

Ramayana: Unprecedented Production Scale

Ramayana is shaping up to be India’s most expensive film ever. Reports estimate the budget for the entire two-part saga at ₹1,600 crore, with ₹900 crore for part one and ₹700 crore for part two. The film promises global production values and enhanced visual effects by DNEG, among whose credits are multiple Oscars.

Audiences on X (formerly Twitter) praised the teaser’s “Hollywood-level” visuals, but it’s the music and what fans call the “real star”, that has them buzzing. One admirer posted:

“Hans Zinner cooked so hard. Ranbir Kapoor is the greatest acting choice ever.”

Another added:

“Hans Zimmer really went hard with the ost and the bgm!! Legend…”

Part 1 is slated for release during Diwali 2026, with Part 2 expected in 2027.
