Charlie Coleman has been appointed head of international theatrical marketing at Amazon MGM Studios as the company continues to build its distribution infrastructure.
The executive will be based in London and starts on August 18 following his departure from Warner Bros, and will work closely with Stephen Bruno and the distribution and PR teams. He reports to Amazon MGM Studios’ head of global marketing, film and series, Sue Kroll.
During his tenure at Warner Bros, Coleman led international marketing campaigns on Barbie, Elvis, Dune, The Batman, and A Minecraft Movie, among others. Prior to Warner Bros, he worked in various roles at The Walt Disney Company in London and Los Angeles.
”Charlie is an exceptional executive with deep expertise in global marketing and a passion for storytelling that resonates across cultures,” said Kroll in an internal memo to staff, adding: “This hire marks an important next step as we continue to scale our global marketing capabilities. I also want to take a moment to recognise the incredible work this team has done over the past year. Your dedication and talent do not go unnoticed.”
While Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios head Mike Hopkins and his senior team build out the in-house operation, Sony Pictures will handle international distribution on four upcoming releases for Amazon MGM Studios, starting with Luca Guadagnino’s psychological drama After The Hunt starring Julia Roberts on October 10.
The 2026 titles under the agreement are Timur Bekmambetov’s Chris Pratt thriller Mercy (US release January 23, 2026), heist film Crime 101 starring Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Halle Berry (February 13, 2026) and Project Hail Mary, an adaptation of the Andy Weir novel starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (March 20, 2026).
Following Project Hail Mary, Amazon MGM plans to directly distribute its own theatrical titles in select territories where it has local offices, with Sony supporting the studio in other international markets. Universal Pictures will handle international distribution on the next James Bond film per a prior agreement.
In April, Amazon MGM Studios gave its first CinemaCon presentation. The studio’s upcoming theatrical releases include Masters Of The Universe (June 5, 2026), How To Rob A Bank (September 4, 2026), Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie (November 13, 2026), The Thomas Crown Affair (March 5, 2027), and two untitled The Chosen feature films (March 12, 2027 and March 31, 2028).
