Aamir and Mansoor Khan last worked together on Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008), a film that became an instant cult classic for its youthful energy and emotional depth. With Ek Din, the brothers return to co-produce under Aamir Khan Productions, marking a major reunion after nearly two decades. While Aamir stays behind the scenes, Mansoor’s active involvement adds sentimental value to the project, especially for long-time fans of the duo’s collaborations.
A fresh lead pairing: Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan
The film features the first-ever on-screen pairing of Southern star Sai Pallavi and Aamir’s son Junaid Khan, who made his acting debut with Maharaj earlier this year. Set against the snowy backdrop of Hokkaido and Otaru in Japan, the film was shot during the famous snow festivals, giving the story a visually rich, dreamlike setting.

“Khan plays a shy police officer who pretends to be the boyfriend of a woman with short-term memory loss to spend just one day with her.”
Though not officially confirmed, several outlets speculate that the story takes cues from the 2017 Korean film A Day, known for its emotional twists and time-loop narrative.

Ek Din is directed by Sunil Pandey, who has reportedly been closely mentored by Aamir. Sources reveal that post-Sitaare Zameen Par’s success, Aamir is keen to back films with strong narrative depth, and Ek Din aligns with that vision. Though not positioned as a festive or holiday release, the film’s early November slot suggests confidence in its content and word-of-mouth potential.
While Junaid has remained media-shy, he has spoken in the past about how much he admires Sai Pallavi’s raw talent, and how the opportunity to share screen space with her has been creatively enriching. The duo’s pairing is fresh, and the narrative reportedly gives both actors ample scope to shine.
