“I dare you, city girl.” “You’re on, cowboy.” The CW and Fathom Events have revealed an official trailer for a cowboy romance movie titled Montana Mavericks, which is getting a theatrical debut in theaters this August. This Montana love story is basically a TV movie made for / by The CW, but they’re upping the ante opening it in theaters for a few days first. “These feel-good stories, inspired by hugely successful blockbuster Harlequin novels, are the perfect blend of nostalgia and escapism, and thanks to our exciting partnership with Fathom, we’re thrilled to bring these films to the big screen first—giving fans the chance to laugh, swoon, and fall in love, together in theaters this summer.” Montana Mavericks is about a New York City gal who goes to Montana to sell off a family ranch, only to suddenly fall for the charming cowboy veterinarian from next door, of course. Ah the classic “rancher guy” fantasy love story. Starring Katherine McNamara and Dennis Andres, along with Linda Kee and Kaya Coleman. Inspired by the Harlequin Bestseller series of books. This looks like exactly the kind of perfectly cheesy romance you’d expect from The CW. Swoon on.

Heather (Katherine McNamara) is a New York City girl and a best-selling author on a mission to conquer writer’s block and avoid paying back an advance on her next book. Her plans take a sudden swerve when she inherits a family ranch in Montana. With her two best friends, Heather heads out for a “Yellowstone” adventure intent on a quick sale but is blindsided by both the ranch’s dilapidated condition and by Cliff (Dennis Andres), the charming cowboy veterinarian next door who challenges her big-city ideals. Heather and her friends find more than they bargained for in this big sky love adventure. Montana Mavericks is directed by Canadian filmmaker Annie Bradley, director of the films I’m Going to Break Your Heart, Meet Me at Christmas, The Killer I Picked Up, and episodes of series “In the Dark” and “Spellbound” previously. The teleplay is co-written by Wendy Litner and Shelley Scarrow. It’s inspired by the “Montana Mavericks” Harlequin book series. Produced by Neshama Entertainment.
