Bollywood fans are in for a treat as the much-awaited sequel to the 2012 hit Cocktail gears up to go on floors this August. Titled Cocktail 2, the film is set to reunite Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor, who last shared the screen in their 2024 romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Adding to the star power, Rashmika Mandanna will join the cast, making it an exciting new trio for audiences.
Cocktail 2 cast and production updates
Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Cocktail 2 will be directed by Luv Ranjan, known for his knack for modern relationship dramas. While the makers are keeping the plot tightly under wraps, the buzz around the project is already soaring. The production team is reportedly eyeing a theatrical release in the second half of 2026, promising a grand cinematic experience.
Adding fuel to speculation, renowned stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, wife of Cocktail’s original director Homi Adajania, shared a sneak peek of the Cocktail 2 script on her Instagram story on Friday, hinting that pre-production is in full swing. Around the same time, Kriti Sanon was spotted leaving Maddock Films’ Mumbai office, further cementing reports that preparations for the shoot are progressing rapidly.
Legacy of the original Cocktail
The first Cocktail film, released in 2012, redefined the modern Bollywood love triangle with Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty in the lead. Praised for its stylish portrayal of friendships and complicated romances, the film’s chart-topping music and Deepika Padukone’s standout performance helped elevated her into the league of Bollywood’s top stars.
What Shahid, Kriti, Rashmika are up to
Meanwhile, Kriti Sanon has just wrapped up shooting for Tere Ishk Mein opposite Dhanush, slated to hit theatres on November 28. Shahid Kapoor is currently busy filming a period drama, Arjun Ustara, co-starring Tripti Dimri and Randeep Hooda. Rashmika Mandanna, last seen in Kuberaa, has an impressive lineup with projects like Mysaa, The Girlfriend, Thama, and Animal Park.
With Cocktail 2 bringing together such a dynamic cast, anticipation is already high to see how this sequel will match or surpass the original’s legacy.
