UK-Ireland box office in June 2025 was up 7% on the year before – an excellent result given the release of Inside Out 2 within that period in 2024.
June 2025 revenue came in at £76.7m, up from £71.8m across the equivalent period last year. Takings have now increased year-on-year for seven of the last eight months; exhibitors will be cheered to see audience confidence maintained into the crucial summer period.
Box office for 2025 has now passed half a billion pounds, at £532.2m; and is up an impressive 18% on the same point last year, as the UK-Ireland box office continues its post-pandemic and post-strikes recovery.
Unlike June 2024 when Inside Out 2 dominated the month with £34.9m, this year saw a more even spread of wide-release titles.

Universal’s How To Train Your Dragon was number one for the month, with £16.7m. This included the highest debut for the four-film franchise at £5.7m (£8.1m including previews); the new live-action title is currently the sixth-highest-grossing 2025 release, below Captain America: Brave New World on £18m.
Sony zombie horror 28 Years Later was a strong performer in second place, making £11m after just two weeks on release. It debuted to a franchise-record £3.9m (£4.7m including previews), is already the highest-grossing title of the franchise, and should overtake Nosferatu (£12.9m) before the end of its run to become the highest-grossing 2025 horror title to date.
Warner Bros’ F1 The Movie took third place in the June chart despite only opening last weekend, with £9.8m to date. Its £7m full opening was the third biggest for star Brad Pitt, behind Deadpool 2 (£12.9m) and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (£7.5m).
Black Bear’s The Salt Path led the way among independent and UK titles, with £4.6m in June for a £7.6m total. It is the third-highest-grossing UK film of the year, behind Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy (£46.3m) and We Live In Time (£8.7m).
Warner Bros’ A Minecraft Movie remains the highest-grossing film of the year with £56.7m to date, followed by Mad About The Boy then Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, which put on a strong £7.6m in June for a £35.3m total. Disney holds four of the current top 10, with three for Universal, two for Warner Bros and one – Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning – for Paramount.

Universal’s Jurassic World Rebirth – released on Wednesday, July 2 – will be the key title this weekend; but is quickly followed by Warner Bros’ Superman on July 11. Further prospects for July include Paramount’s animation Smurfs, with a voice cast including Rihanna, from July 18; then Disney’s latest Marvel Cinematic Universe title The Fantastic Four: First Steps from July 24.
