US Trailer for ‘A Cool Fish 2’ – Chinese Action Comedy Set in Bangkok

“We build, we rise, we rule? We’ve broken up, Chan Sanjin…” Ha ha. Well Go USA has revealed an official US trailer for a Chinese action comedy movie titled A Cool Fish 2, a sequel to the 2018 movie A Cool Fish from director Rao Xiaozhi. They’re bringing this over to the US to open in theaters right away after it opens in theaters in China first this week. In this sequel, the “scumbag” Chen Sanjin and the “ruthless woman” Xue Fangmei, who broke up on the streets of Bangkok, unexpectedly became involved in a kidnapping activity by a criminal group. The story follows these two people to Bangkok, Thailand and is set mostly there. Just as Sanjin strikes a deal with a television station, his business is hit by a global recession and a terrorist attack. Starring Zhang Yu, Ren Suxi, Pan Binlong, Ma Yinyin, & Guo Yiqian. This looks super zany & over-the-top fun, almost like a 90s action film that they don’t make anymore. Check it out below if you’re curious.

Sanjin (starring Zhang Yu), the little brother of Yiwu-based businessman Chen, ventures to Southeast Asia to expand his business and prove his mettle. Just as he strikes a deal with a television station, his business is hit by a global recession and a terrorist attack. A Cool Fish 2, also known as 无名之辈：否极泰来 (or Wu Ming zhi Bei: Pi Ji Tai Lai) in Mandarin, is directed by Chinese genre filmmaker Rao Xiaozhi, director of the films The Insanity, A Cool Fish, End Game, Ode to the Spring, and Home Coming previously. The screenplay is written by Rao Xiaozhi, Lili Wang, Quan Zhou. Produced by Ruoqing Fu, Albert Yeung, & Rao Xiaozhi. The film opens first in theaters in China starting on July 5th this summer. Well Go USA will then release Rao Xiaozhi’s A Cool Fish 2 in US theaters starting July 18th, 2025 coming soon. Anyone want to watch this? Look any good?
